Stud Services
SUFFOLK
At Clements Equine we offer a variety of flexible services for the stallion, mare and youngstock owner. We have excellent facilities, an experienced team and working alongside Charlotte and Rob, who are both DEFRA qualified AI Technicians, are the stud team from internationally renowned vet practice, Rossdales LLP. Alongside all the facilities you would expect from a stud and collection centre – a well equipped laboratory, collection barn and insemination area – we also have all the comforts your horse needs throughout their stay here, including an 18m diameter horsewalker, ménage, lunge pen, post and railed stallion paddocks with 6’6″ fencing (to deter even the most ambitious!) and 25 paddocks ranging from nursery size upwards, all with post and rail or stud fencing. We treat every horse as an individual and tailor their routine accordingly, whether living out individually, in groups or stabled. We offer competitive packages and visitors are always welcome to come and see our yard and meet the horses.
Stallion Services
We offer both walk in and resident stallion collection services – collecting for fresh inseminations on site, shipping chilled semen throughout the UK and working alongside Newmarket vets Rossdales, we are able to offer a full test freezing and freezing services.
We are a DEFRA approved collection centre so are able to freeze for EU and worldwide markets alongside the UK. We also provide dummy training. We have excellent facilities for stallions including a fully enclosed rubber floored collection barn, 6’6″ high post and rail stallion paddocks, a sand-pen, ménage and horse-walker, as well as large roomy rubber matted stables, so whatever your stallion’s routine we can ensure he remains fit and happy throughout his stay with us.
Mare Services
We take mares on both short and long term residential basis for artificial insemination, embryo transfer and foaling. We offer comprehensive and competitive AI packages for fresh, chilled and frozen semen to the stallion of your choice, UK or worldwide. All vet work is carried out by the highly experienced stud vet team of Rossdales. We have excellent facilities for stud work, foaling and the general care of your horse. For competition mares who may be recuperating from injury we have small paddocks and our solarium and other therapy treatments on hand. We have several large foaling boxes, all equipped with CCTV to enable us to monitor your mare closely and without intrusion 24 hours a day prior to foaling, and a large range of post and rail paddocks from nursery size upwards. We are flexible with mares and able to follow their normal routine as closely as possible, either stabled at night or living out individually or in small groups.
Weaning and Boarding
With over 40 acres of well established and maintained pasture, all with post and rail fencing, we offer short and long term boarding options.
Mares and youngstock live out in small groups throughout the Spring, Summer and Autumn. In winter months they are housed, either in small groups or pairs, in comfortable barns with outdoor yard accommodation and ad lib hay or haylage. Hard feed and balancers are specifically fed as required.
Youngsters are not over handled but are well cared for, vaccinated, trimmed, weighed and wormed regularly.

Breeding Programme
Our breeding programme began around 15 years ago, with a lovely show jumper who had been very successful, including winning at the Horse of the Year Show. Since then our breeding operation has gradually grown to include six mares, and two licensed stallions. It’s very important to us that the mares we use in our breeding programme have performed themselves; our current broodmares include results up to 1.50m at international level. All our mares have demonstrated jumping ability themselves prior to being used. They all carry exceptional bloodlines, move well and are well put together. We use our own stallions in our breeding programme, and also out-cross to some of the best European bloodlines, both proven performers and also using exciting up and coming stallions. We choose the stallions we use based on their ability, trainability and type, with of course excellent conformation and athleticism. We always have a selection of quality youngsters with top class bloodlines, bred to excel in show-jumping or eventing. Bloodlines in our current youngstock include:

- I am the proud owner of Annie, a 17year old cob who has excelled in everything she has done from showing to side saddle and one day eventing. Following a leg injury I decided to put her in foal. Imagine my disappointmentwhen I was told by a vet that she was too old and too fat to get into foal at all. - We used Clements Equine last year to foal down our event broodmares. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Charlotte is extremely professional both with the client and the horses. She is super organised which was great for me as I am not always! The facilities are great, with the girls settling into there huge comfy stables very quickly. Charlotte is great in keeping in touch and made me very welcome whenever I would just drop in and visit. We very sadly had complications with one of the births which meant we had to have a foal put to sleep due to severe birth defects.
