We cannot recommend Clements Equine highly enough. We used their stallion Shannondale Delta to breed our first foal Delta’s Diamond (Ziggy), who was born last June, from a hunting mare of ours who needed time out due to an injury. Charlotte was brilliant to deal with, highly professional and helpful. We are absolutely delighted with our foal. She has fantastic conformation and is going to be a lovely big strong mare. Her mother was 17.1 as is her sire, and she already stands at about 14hh at almost a year old. She has an incredibly affectionate and easy nature, definitely inherited from her sire as her mother was a typical mare! She is extremely easy to handle and is very relaxed and calm, and always has been. Sadly we lost her mother a month ago but we very much look forward to the future of this young filly and would have no hesitation in using this sire again. Interestingly we bought a young gelding from Ireland who has the same grandsire as Ziggy, Cavalier Royale, and he has a very similar relaxed and gentle nature, and is proving very willing to please. It is a great bloodline.

Charlotte is great in keeping in touch and made me very welcome whenever I would just drop in and visit. We very sadly had complications with one of the births which meant we had to have a foal put to sleep due to severe birth defects. Charlotte and her team were fantastic they kept me informed and dealt with everything exceptionally quickly and professionally minimising any stress for both the mare and myself.

I am the proud owner of Annie, a 17year old cob who has excelled in everything she has done from showing to side saddle and one day eventing. Following a leg injury I decided to put her in foal. Imagine my disappointment when I was told by a vet that she was too old and too fat to get into foal at all. Regardless, I contacted Pippa Childerhouse with Amour G, and made a very rushed decision to send her to Charlotte Taylor at Clements Equine for AI.
I made a call to Charlotte and after speaking to her with my very exacting care regime for Annie, decided that we would give it a try. At all times Charlotte has been most helpful, and kept me informed of Annie’s progress and putting up with my endless calls asking how she was getting on. After the second round of AI, Charlotte was delighted to give me the news that Annie, was in fact, in foal. When I went to collect her I found Charlotte to be very friendly, and was delighted that she had been so well looked after. If all goes well, and I think we could try again sometime, I can think of no better place to send her, they obviously know what they are dong and do it well. Annie has just been scanned and still in foal, so we’re looking forward to next year.

I like to look after my mare myself and I am left to get on with it, but there is always a reliable helping hand and advice available if I need it which for me means Clements Equine has all the benifits of DIY and none of the drawbacks. I know there is always someone on the yard keeping an eye out on the horses and help when I need it. The facilities and fields are all well looked after and there are lots of bonuses like the horse walker and lessons and professional help with your horse when needed. Manor Farm at Bardwell was recommended to me for full livery whilst my horse recovered from a very complicated colic surgery. On meeting Charlotte to discuss our case, my mother and I were so relieved to find such a competent, compassionate person and our anxiety was at once put to rest.
During his 5 weeks box rest, our little horse (who had been through 3 different surgeries in the previous 10 months), was treated like royalty and seemed happy and content. His healing process has been phenomenal and Charlotte has helped manage Jack’s journey back to fitness, way beyond what was expected from a livery yard.
We are now having weekly lessons which both Jack and I are finding demanding but extremely rewarding and realising that we both have potential that we did not realise. It will be very difficult to leave! We would recommend Manor Farm Stud to anyone.

MEET THE TEAM
Charlotte Taylor
Business Owner
Charlotte, formerly Clements (hence our business name!) has grown up in a horsey family surrounded with horses and ponies. She has competed successfully in junior and young rider show jumping competitions to 1.35m, and more recently in amateur classes. Charlotte set up Clements Equine in 2005 and over the last ten years the family farm has diversified to help the business grow. A qualified A.I Technician, Charlotte still enjoys riding but concentrates on running the stud and livery side of the business now.
Robert Taylor
Business Owner
Robert joined Clements Equine in 2010, and is Charlotte’s husband. Having previously worked at a busy Newmarket stud he is well placed to front the annual foaling operation and also facilitates the rolling schedule of improvements and alterations on the yard. Robert is also a qualified A.I Technician and in addition provides a key role in the paddock management business.
Paul Clements
Management
Paul is Charlotte’s father and heads up the paddock management side of the business. He also makes sure the paddocks on site are in tip top condition and is in charge of producing all the hay, haylage and straw for the horses. Alongside a lifelong love of horses Paul is also a championship winning breeder of Simmental and Aberdeen Angus cattle. He assists in the day to day running of the yard – when not busy on a tractor!
Colin Keeling
Consultant
Colin runs his own yard in Hadleigh with his partner and fellow show-jumper Emily Hilton, both of whom are excellent producers of young horses. Colin has worked closely with us for several years, predominantly competing the show jumping team, and also assisting in the education of the young horses.
Sarah Balaam
Assistant
Sarah worked here several years ago and has recently returned after a break raising her family. Sarah is an all-round super groom so we are very pleased to have her back. Alongside her role here, Sarah also has four of her own horses, and a young family – good job she likes being busy!
